Shawn Levy is starting to become actor Ryan Reynolds favorite director to work with. Not only did the two impress audiences with the video game inspired “Free Guy” but streaming on Netflix this weekend is their newest collaboration, “The Adam Project.”
Now Reynolds had decided to tap Levy to direct the long in development “Deadpool 3” that will integrate the merc with a mouth into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Per The Hollywood Reporter:
Fans have been champing at the bit for another chapter in the raunchy, violent, and of course, hilarious Deadpool series since the 2018 sequel, which added Josh Brolin as Cable and Zazie Beetz as Domino.
The first record-breaking Deadpool (2016) was directed by Tim Miller. The sequel was helmed by David Leitch. Frequent Reynolds collaborators Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick penned the scripts for the first two films, and are now working Deadpool 3. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, known for the animated series Bob’s Burgers, previously worked on the script for the third installment of the franchise, based on the character introduced in the comics by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza.
Whatever Reynolds has cooked up for the next film will have to be a little tamer this time around considering he’s now playing in the house of mouse. Expect the violence, F-Bombs, and crude jokes to be toned way back or taken out completely.
Now Disney has been rumored to letting Deadpool stay R-rated and whenever he crosses over into other Marvel films he would have to be PG-13. Now that could work but only time will tell.
