Not sure how Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off film, “Madame Web” keeps attracting great talent but this cast continues to impress.
Sydney Sweeney (“Euphoria”) is joining Dakota Johnson in Sony’s “Madame Web” film. Johnson will play the titular role, while Sweeney’s role hasn’t been disclosed at the moment. S.J. Clarkson (“Succession”, “Jessica Jones”) will direct the film from a screenplay by the duo of Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (creators of “Lost in Space”).
In the comics, Madame Web is depicted as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis and thus was connected to a life support system that looked like a spider web. Due to her age and medical condition, Madame Web never actively fought any villains. For that reason, sources have stressed it’s possible the project could turn into something else.
Sony plays it much more loose with their adaptations of Spider-Man characters than say Marvel Studios who try their best to stick to its properties comic book roots.
No release date has been revealed for Madame Web.
