Despite early reports that Sharon Stone was signed to the upcoming DCEU film, “Blue Beetle” another accomplished actress has stepped in to fill the role. The real life villainous, SUSAN SARANDON!
Per Mercwiththemovies:
Sarandon is set to play the villain role in DC’s “Blue Beetle”, after talks with Sharon Stone fell through. She will play Victoria Kord, a character created specifically for the film. The film, which is arriving in theaters on August 18 2023 will be directed by Angel Manuel Soto (“Charm City Kings”) from a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (“Miss Bala”). Xolo Maridueño (“Cobra Kai”) will play the lead role, while the supporting cast includes George Lopez, Harvey Guillén (“What We Do In The Shadows”), Belissa Escobedo (“Beauty and The Baker”), Bruna Marquezine,Oscar nominee nominee Adriana Barraza (“Babel”), Elpidia Carrillo (“Predator”), Raoul Max Trujillo (“Mayans M.C.”), and Damián Alcázar (“Narcos”).
Xolo will play Mexican-American teenager Jaime Reyes aka Blue Beetle. Reyes is the third character to assume the Blue Beetle mantle. Reyes is a working-class El Paso teenager devoted to his family and with no connections to superheroes prior to receiving his powers.
It’s a nice change of pace for the DCEU. Maridueno brings the Cobra Kai fanbase to the otherwise dark and gritty DCEU.
