Per News Reelz:
CinemaCon is underway in Las Vegas and Sony Pictures is up with their presentation and with it came that official announcement that Venom 3 & a sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife are in the works.
Venom 3 was teased at the end of a sizzle reel put on by the studio and it was just the film’s logo. No official talent was announced for the project but it should come as no surprise that a third film was coming. The first two films, which starred Tom Hardy as the Marvel spider-antihero have collectively grossed $1.4 billion at the global box office to date. The last film, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, was released in October, scored the second-best opening of the pandemic and second best ever for October with $90M. By the end of it run, the film grossed $213.55M, and $502M worldwide.
A sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife was also teased during the sizzle reel. No talent attached as of yet but I’m sure this will make fans of the franchise happy. Ghostbusters: Afterlife was a fan service hit, grossing $129.3M at the domestic box office and $197.3M WW after a Thanksgiving release, taking the franchise’s global worth to $938.2M.
