When Legends of Tomorrow first premiered on the CW it was easily one of the Arrowverse’s top shows. It’s lovable cast, its deep cut comic book references and engaging storylines delved into the multiverse long before the MCU started flirting with the idea on the big screen.
However as the series went on, the quality dipped, the cast changed drastically and the stories just got progressively worse and felt like the writers room forgot they were writing for a comic book show.
After 7 seasons, it’s time to close up shop.
Per Variety:
Co-showrunner and executive producer Keto Shimizu confirmed the news on Twitter Friday evening, writing: “Well, folks. It’s been an incredible run. However, the CW has let us know that there will be no Season 8 of #LegendsOfTomorrow. We are heartbroken, but also immensely grateful for the amazing work our cast, crew and writers have contributed to the little show that could.”
Based on the characters of DC Comics, “Legends of Tomorrow” was set in the Arrowverse and featured characters from “Arrow” and “The Flash.” It first premiered in January 2016. The Season 7 finale — which now marks the end of the series — aired on March 2.
The show stars Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Arthur Darvill, Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh, Ciara Renée, Falk Hentschel, Amy Pemberton, Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller, Matt Letscher, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Nick Zano, Tala Ashe, Keiynan Lonsdale, Jes Macallan, Matt Ryan, Ramona Young, Courtney Ford, Olivia Swann, Adam Tsekhman, Shayan Sobhian and Lisseth Chavez.
Shimizu’s statement continued: “Thank you to our fans; your love and passion for our strange band of misfits has made every break, every script, every daily, every cut and every mix worth all the hard work. We see you, we love you, and you’ll always have a place on the Waverider.”
Just another nail in the Arrowverse coffin…
