Bruce Greenwood has joined the cast of Netflix’s “The Fall of The House of Usher”, a limited series that comes from writer/director Mike Flanagan (“Doctor Sleep”, “Midnight Mass”). Greenwood is replacing Oscar nominee Frank Langella, who was fired for unacceptable conduct on set. He will reshoot all the scenes that Langella had already shot. The project reunites Greenwood with Flanagan after they worked together on “Gerald’s Game” and “Doctor Sleep”.
The limited series is based on multiple works from Edgar Allan Poe and features themes of madness, family, isolation and metaphysical identities. An unnamed narrator approaches the house of Usher on a “dull, dark, and soundless day.” This house the estate of his boyhood friend, Roderick Usher (Greenwood) is gloomy and mysterious.
The rest of the cast includes Flanagan regulars Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, Samantha Sloyan, Katie Parker and Kate Siegel (his wife), as well as Mark Hamill, 2 time Oscar nominee Mary McDonnell, Carl Lumbly ( who work with Flanagan on “Doctor Sleep”), Malcolm Goodwinc Rahul Kohli, Crystal Balint, Michael Trucco, Zach Gilford, and Sauriyan Sapkota.
