The Ledge (2022) film is a thrilling and enthralling film about a girl’s grit and determination in a fight for survival against four chauvinistic good ol’ boys who are trying to kill her.
When two friends, Kelly and Sophie go to scale some very high cliffs, their girls trip is interrupted by four brash and crude just out of college meatheads with questionable motives. Sophie chooses to party with them while Kelly decides to get some sleep before their climb in the morning. The boys get a little too drunk and the leader of the pack, Joshua, tries to impose himself on Sophie. Sophie tries to decline until Joshua assaults her. One thing leads to another and Sophie stumbles down a mountain. When the guys find out she isn’t dead they decide to finish her off and dispose of the body. Worried about the whereabouts of her friend, Kelly goes looking for Sophie only to see the boys toss Sophie’s lifeless body off a cliff.
Kelly recorded the murder on a camcorder buts gasps loud enough to be heard. With no one to run or anyone to call out to for help, Kelly scales the mountain with what few supplies she could snag with the fours boys right behind her and determined to make sure Kelly shares the same fate as Sophie.
The story is a tale of two friendships. Kelly who will stop at nothing to make sure Justice is achieve for her murdered friend. And Joshua, who quickly turns on his friends whose morale compasses aren’t as compromised as his.
Brittany Ashworth, who plays Kelly, is a warrior in this film. She is more adept and physically capable than the men at scaling the mountain. A strength and detriment to her as the plot progresses throughout the film. The movie moves a breakneck pace after the introduction and once the chase is on the story doesn’t take its foot off the gas until the credits.
It’s not an academy award winner and it won’t be in top 10 best films of the year, however The Ledge is a worthwhile film that will leave you on the edge of your seat throughout.
