Desperate not to leave Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls as Indy’s final cinematic send off, Lucasfilm has enlisted the aide of academy award winning director James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma; Walk The Line) to send Indy off in style. Harrison Ford will once again be playing Jones in a film that will be the final in the series but possibly not the franchise. Indiana Jones is being rumored to pass the mantle onto another adventurer in this film. Rumor is it’s a female. Which is better than leaving the franchise in the hands of Shia LaBeouf’s character from the last film. Check out the exclusive image below:
During the film’s brief portion of Lucasfilm’s panel, Harrison Ford himself took to the stage after an orchestral version of the theme performed by John Williams. Assuring fans that they’ve “almost completed” Indy 5, Ford confirmed that yes, Williams is returning to do the score, and that he’s excited for fans to see what they’ve got. “I’m really proud of the movie we made… I’ll be seeing you around campus,” he told the crowd in attendance.
The film’s ensemble cast also includes Antonia Banderas, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann and Toby Jones.
Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel are producers.
