The CW has released the first trailer for its newly greenlit series Gotham Knights, set to premiere in 2023.
Based on characters created for DC by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, Gotham Knights is written by the Batwoman trio of Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux, and Natalie Abrams. It picks up in the aftermath of Bruce Wayne’s murder, with his rebellious adopted son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan) forging an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies—Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan), Harper Row (Fallon Smythe), and her brother Cullen Row (Tyler DiChiara)—when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader.
The Arrowverse quickly starting going downhill after the Crisis on Infinite Earths multi-show crossover. Multiple shows connected to the shared universe have ended or were canceled and now the franchise appears to be on its last legs.
Gotham Knights looks like a cheap attempt to cash in on Batman with characters that even WB’s short-lived Birds of Prey series would have turned away.
