Time for everyone’s fear of spiders to be reignited. It has been announced that Christopher Landon, the man behind horror hits Happy Death Day, Happy Death Day 2U, and Freaky, has been tapped to write and direct Amblin Partner’s remake of Arachnophobia.
James Wan and his Atomic Monster cohort Michael Clear are producing the feature project along with Amblin, while Frank Marshall, the Jurassic World franchise producer who made his directorial debut with the 1990 movie, will executive produce.
Arachnophobia was a horror comedy that focused on a small town terrorized by a colony of deadly South American spiders accidentally brought into the U.S. The film stars Jeff Daniels and John Goodman in prominent roles. Released on July 18, 1990, to generally positive reviews from critics, the film grossed $53.21 million on a $22 million budget.
