Julia Garner Offered Role Of “Madonna” In Upcoming Biopic

Julia Garner has found herself the frontrunner for the lead role in the Madonna biopic. It has been announced Universal Pictures, via Deadline, is confirming Garner is their top choice to take on the Material Girl.
The Emmy-winner has been the front-runner since the top of the year Deadline adds the reason an official offer hasn’t gone out yet is there are still several things in play which include the budget as well as some creative factors which include how long the film is.
Madonna herself is directing the film from script by Diablo Cody. The pop star has been very picky about who will be playing her and has put all those who have auditioned through a boot camp that included testing on dancing and singing.
The studio wanted a name people recognized and Garner has certainly seen her star grow given her leading lady status following star making roles in Ozark and most recently Inventing Anna. She is currently filming the Paramount thriller Apartment 7A.
