Let’s face it, even the most loyal Star Wars fan can admit that the overly hyped Obi-Wan Kenobi series is sadly falling below expectations. Through no fault of the actors, the writing is just horrible. Not only does it continue to ignore continuity established it just makes Obi-Wan look like a bumbling buffoon who is outsmarted at every turn and comes across as a neutered punching bag.
The biggest problem after episode 4 of the event series (the worst yet) the program we were promised with Ewan and Hayden returning to reprise their roles as Kenobi & Vader has turned into a low rent, back door pilot for new character, Reva.
Reva is being called the “Darkside Mary Sue.” Like Rey before her, she’s seemingly all powerful and smarter than everyone else in the room. Not sure how a character who is an Inquisitor (not even a Sith or Jedi) is stronger than a trained Jedi or Grand Inquisitor but she is. It’s sad because like Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico) from The Last Jedi, actress Moses Ingram (Reva) is really pouring herself into this role but the writing is some of the worst ever on a Star Wars project.
Now word is Reva is supposed to be getting a spin-off series once Kenobi wraps up. Not sure why we need a show about Reva but then again I didn’t originally think an Andor show was needed either until I saw how good that looks. Now I am not going to call for Reva to be diminished from future project like Rose Tico’s role was greatly diminished in Rise of Skywalker. But I will hope that the writing room on the rumored Reva show is at least competent enough to produce a better show than this Obi-Wan series which has been a complete let down on almost every level.
