Actor Joel McHale takes center stage in a new teaser for CW’s season three of “Stargirl.”
Way back in the first episode, McHale’s Sylvester Pemberton/Starman was fatally injured and forced to give his Cosmic Staff to Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) in the hope of finding a successor. That person turned out to be Pat’s step-daughter, Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger), and she took on the mantle of Stargirl. But as seen in Stargirl season 2, Sylvester isn’t as dead as he used to be. And now, the former Starman is Courtney’s new mentor.
The CW has released the first teaser trailer for Stargirl season 3, which finds Courtney and Pat still getting used to Sylvester’s presence in their lives. McHale is a series regular this season, so we’ll be seeing a lot of him this year. And as a former superhero with a lot more experience than Pat, there’s a good deal of practical knowledge that Sylvester can pass on to his successor.
In addition to Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl, the main cast will also feature Yvette Monreal as Yolanda Montez/Wildcat, Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel/Dr. Mid-Nite, Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler/Hourman, Trae Romano as Mike Dugan, Hunter Sansone as Cameron Mahkent, Neil Hopkins as Larry Crock, Joy Osmanski as Paula Brooks, Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman/Shiv, Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan/S.T.R.I.P.E., and Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton/Starman.
Keith David is expected to voice this season’s assumed big bad Mister Bones, while Ysa Penarejo (Jennie-Lynn Hayden), Stella Smith (Artemis Crock), Jonathan Cake (Richard Swift/The Shade), Alkoya Brunson (Jakeem Williams), Tim Gabriel (Todd Rice/Obsidian), and Seth Green (Thunderbolt) will also appear in recurring capacities.
Stargirl returns this fall on the CW.
